Allow me this

I know
you’ll say
with a pat of
a reassuring hand
“It will come again,
It will.
There will be another.”
And while
you mean well
and I even believe you
this morning
my skin
is longing
to be touched
and lightly,
my lips
to be brushed
with a kiss, sweet
and my eyes
to be held
in a gaze beyond
fondness, stirring
shared.
Allow me this.
For I am open
but missing,
not “him”
more than
another
for
a deep breath
of love’s burning
smoke.

  1. This was lovely in words, photos and your voice touches my soul.

Happy Valentine's Day dear Heather ~ Love & hugs ~ FlowerLady

  2. yes, I join the chorus about your reading. And add I soft, deep me to sigh to the meaning of the poem. I look around in the streets and think …and never even saw him, now buried in Tunisia. You missed so much.

  3. The words and your voice convey such intensity, conviction and sincerity!
Sending love and best thoughts to you this Valentines Day.

  4. Ah – beautiful! The prose and the voice, the photo and the feeling. Silly day, right? But sad; can't help but think back or, with hope, forwards. Thank you for making it into something lovely. And Judith is right – that voice is meant to be used, and heard! Sending you lots of love today, my Valentine! xoxox
