  14. Happy, Blessed New Year to you, Remi and Ben!
Your photos of the shore warm my heart as I spent the day on Balboa Island, CA, yesterday, sharing with some friends my old haunts. The water was like glass, the air still and yet, the smell of the sea unmistakeable in the pink glow of the setting sun. Every vision of sand stirs memories, the kisses of lapping waves on the sand tickle my soul with experiences of the most idyllic childhood spent walking the boundaries of the bay. Wandering in every sense.
    xoxo, Chris

  27. Heather, its so great to hear your voice and those photos make me feel as though I am right there on the beach with you. What a wonderful way to bring in the New Year.

If I haven't said this already (and I probably have) I Wish you many more adventures along with health and peace in 2013.

  28. Magical photos…and I always love seeing pictures of Dear Ben…Happy New Year!!

  29. Or just as happy as if he were a wee pup again. He even went in the water! And it was cooold.
Sending you Wishes for a wise and wonderful year too, Maywyn.

  30. Beautiful photos
    May your year be blessed
Ben looks spiffy like he just had a hair cut

  31. Deborah, that is exactly what it was–it washed away all of the rest of last year that needed to go. It has become a little tradition for us to go at this time of year and that is why.

And no, Ben pretends to sleep while we eat as his begging is verboten. But oooh did he get a treat after for being good!

Wishing you and yours a fantastic year too! Thanks for being here and for being you.
    xo,
    h

  32. Leslie! Heeheehee, Remi is my companion and Ben is our dog! 🙂 Hope Remi doesn't read this far in the comments. 🙂 But he IS adorable, it is true! Wishing you exactly the same for the year ahead!

  33. Hi Heather, Happy New Year to you and Remi! And of course to happy smiley Ben! What a nice beach to go wandering with Ben. Did he sit and watch you with big eyes, while you ate your lobster? Like he's never been fed? Being at a deserted beach, helps blow the cobwebs away and feeds the soul.

Wishing you a great year ahead. One of creativity, fulfilment and peace! Deborah from Melbourne.

  34. Just perfect Heather! Remi is adorable 🙂 .. I am such an animal lover and I can tell he is a charmer;) Wishing you all the best that life has to offer in the coming year. Happy New Year!

    xxleslie

  35. Heather, wishing you a rewarding year of inspiration and creation. Will be following you in 2013. Gross bisou!

  37. How cute and happy Ben looks. Funny Ben got a stick out of the sand and Dylan got one out of a snow bank, lucky dogs! Lobster and champagne sound like the perfect start to the New Year. Wishing you, Remi and Ben a Happy and Healthy Year!

  38. Ah but Vegas is a sort of Disneyland, isn't it Amelia? 😉 Wishing you a wonderful year ahead too–prosperous? I hadn't even dared to think of that! So thank you. Very, very happy you found your way here.
Wishing you in advance a very Happy Anniversary!!!
    xoxo!

  39. Heather, to you, Remi and Ben, a Happy and Prosperous New Year! Champagne and lobster, a fitting celebratory meal for the first day of 2013. A very nice surprise to hear your lovely voice in the video. As for me and mine, we are heading to Las Vegas for a couple of days, to celebrate an upcoming anniversary. My vote for Disneyland was turned down in a heartbeat…:)

    XO
    Amelia

Je suis très contente d'avoir trouver votre magnifique blog–et votre point de vue sur la monde aussi…
Bonne Année avec du créativité et le joie pur,
    H.

  44. If anyone has a mug full of hope, it is you, dear TG. I am over the moon excited for you, what a year you have ahead! I'll keep sending the Good Thoughts, as they help.

And yes, that is Ben, our Golden Retriever and my great buddy. He is sleeping at my feet as I type as he often does. Funny, that you should mention it but he does like to take the leash in his mouth to walk himself, mainly to make the tourists laugh. Silly Goose. He is bilingual too.

    Casually throwing bisous from Arles,
    H

  45. And Happy New Year from your reader just down the road from French Girl in Seattle. Have a great 2013!

  46. Heureuse année en France, Heather, Rémi et Ben! Looking forward to new adventures; beautifully crafted stories; amazing photography from Lost in Arles in 2013! Veronique (French Girl in Seattle) PS: Bon appétit! Homard et champagne. La classe! 🙂

  47. Une très bonne année dans cette belle région.
Un grand merci aussi pour vos mots qui me font toujours un grand plaisir.

    amicalement,

    Manon

  48. Bonne Annee.
Always love your photos, wherever you where it looks so peaceful… Lovely…

  49. Bonjour! !

    Bonne annee 🙂

Is that your blond tousled happy-smiling-dog?

    #sigh

    How lovely.

We feel as if we just took a walk and felt the wind in our hair and ran a little and got of breath and happily took the lead/leash (French word? Or do French dogs walk themselves in a tiny bit proud way?) and then went to a cafe by the Plage in a large wool coat and adorable cloche hat – to write.

    Happy 2013.

Feels like a very good one.

    Waving from Manhattan.
