Le grand départ, deux

I will finish off this week with the last of Sunday’s photos before it is too late. I can see Mars waving his flag at me furiously from his perch on the tour de la Marie. “Time is fleeting, Heather!” he shouts with no uncertain wonder. The clock is most definitely ticking as summer swans along winsomely but unwelcome, at least in my household where autumn is honored as the most beautiful season of all. Let the light scribble to me in code, I can read it like a map…and know where we are headed…

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
Wishing you at least one giggle fit and and a good surprise, wherever you are…

  1. Domestic and international calling cards are available for purchase in more and more places. The main options are to buy through an online calling card website or to buy at a retail store

  2. SO lovely Heather!! Hope all is well – sorry to have been such a stranger – have had an insanely busy summer.

  3. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend yourself! These are photos that take my breath away!

  4. Eee! I don't want to sound like a drag but I am really anti-Pinterest for a very good reason. Remi is a professional photographer and our income has taken a very drastic nose dive due to such sites as Pinterest and Tumblr in which people can borrow images instead of buying them from sites like Corbis and Getty, which has always been our bread and butter. I actually have a "please don't Pin" sign on my sidebar and that is the reason why. Just so you know! 🙂

  5. Heather, that gold wall could be framed as is, it looks like a marvelous abstract painting. I pinned it!

  6. Already, Helen? I know that you are up North but still! Actually, we have had such a dry Summer that or leaves have just started falling off!!! No lovely colors for us this year I am afraid.

Also wishing you an absolutely wonderful week ahead…

  7. Hello Heather

Your photos are just spectacular. My favourite is the peeling paint on the door.
We drove through the country today and it is definitely showing signs of Autumn.
Wishing you a week of joy

    Helen xx

  8. Sorry, I blanked out after "copperheads" for a minute there. And that historic commission must not have the facts down straight as many an original Victorian was trimmed in an unusual panoply of colours…just sayin'.

  9. Unlike our friend, Rev. Terry, I don't live in a historic house. (He's much more equipped for THAT task than I am. If you were on FB, you'd be as bowled over as I was by all the canning and pickling and relishing he has been up to his elbows in. Oh, yeah, and during breaks he was out in the yard taking out the resident copperheads.)

Nobody cares what you do to a 1960's ranch, but we did have a friend who had to run every paint color she wanted to use on her historic Victorian by the historic commission in town. The raspberry trim was particularly contentious!

  10. Isn't it the best?! Still sending extra good thoughts and energy your way…

  11. It totally is Ann. I hope that you are finding a way to make the most of this last bit of Paris time before your move. And I fear you are a classier act than I with my five espressos drowned before I can put two words together!!!

  12. If you painted your door that color of blue, folks in your neighborhood would probably call the Thoreau Commission or something…;) Thanks for the photo!!!

  13. Don't forget that I grew up in the Middle West, Jackie–not France!– trust me, I have done my time…

  14. Doh! Don't say that Sister–you are killing me!!! I wish that I was there with you all too!!!!!!

  15. I take that as a very, very fine compliment Suze. One thing seems certain–we both try to see good when we can. 🙂

  16. Loree, I absolutely KNOW that you can too because I still can't those amazing photos of M'dina out of my mind…so very beautiful…but thank you!

  17. Thank you so much my friends. I am in a dither because that I was absolutely convinced that I had responded to your fine compliment but alas, no. Time to cut down on the rosé consumption!

And yes the windows are wide open here, it is absolutely my definition of perfect today…
    Bon Dimanche!

    Heather

  18. Heather every time I visit there are so many surprises!!

  19. Oh, these photos are the perfect treat with my noonday cup of tea. I especially love the the ochre walls, and the way the color shifts in different light. Thank you for sharing them — and bon dimanche! Summer may be drawing to a close but it's STILL here for the moment 🙂

  20. The blue of that sky, the red of that bicycle. Our front door is blue, but not that blue that one sees in your region and in Morocco too. A photo of a blue boat taken in Essaouira is headed your way under separate cover.

  21. You've captured the autumn in this one. The soft sun light easing us into the starkness of winter helps somehow doesn't it. You've put such beauty on the season that here we refer to as 'football season' 😉
    Enjoy~

  22. Bon weekend Heather et gros bisous!
    P.S. It's so crisp this morning, I'm wearing a hoodie 🙂

  23. My 2 best gals are coming over for dinner & drinkies tonight so giggles will definitely be on the menu 😉

A wonderful weekend to you, Heather!

  24. What beautiful colors and textures! I hope there is relief from the heat, too. Sending you lots of love and wishing you were here for a cookout!

  25. The autumn light has a peculiar amber slant wherein angels hide.

I feel I have found a kindred spirit in you, Heather.

  26. Your photos are sublime. I love that you can read the light. It's amazing all the secrets we can discover if we only took the time to observe our surroundings. Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

  27. Hello Heather:
These are indeed a visual treat with which to start the weekend and, as always, you have the ability of capturing the most unusual aspects of your subjects and creating from them works of art. For such these are.

We thought to choose a favourite, but find it impossible.

Windows here remain flung wide, but the nights draw in and the air each morning has an autumnal feel. Wonderful!!

    Kellemes hétvégét.
