First glimpse and a last look

Hello from the depths of movingdom! Oh my, has it been a long week and it is far from finished. We have until Monday at 3pm to clean our old apartment and then we will turn over the keys. So I am taking advantage of having internet to give a little glimpse of how things are coming along. There is still so  much to do but we have already carved out little areas of normalcy amidst the boxes. It will be fun to see how the décor evolves!
*An important note to my professional design blog friends: I know that you will see me making rampant mistakes. I know it will be painful, but in no way am I looking for free advice from any of you! No! I am just happy that you are here. :)*
Thank you to those of you that expressed concern over Ben. I have never seen our dear boy so perturbed, even though he went through a move only a year ago. We went to visit my close friend Claire, who just happens to be Ben’s vet. She kindly suggested a pheromone collar to calm him (naturally) and as you can see, it is working!

And now, to the mop station! I will try to enjoy these last few days here, despite the hard work ahead. It makes me happy to know that I am preparing this lovely space so that it can be a home for someone else, hopefully one involving as many happy memories as Remi, Ben and I have shared here.

  1. Thanks so much my fine friends! Oh, this encouragement was just what I needed. The last of our things are in the hallway and I am waiting for Remi to bring the car around to load it up. Then, on to new adventures!

  2. You are doing better then I….but goodness it does go on why oh why do we have so much stuff…and are still tempted to purchase more…guess it is all in the change aspect…bet it is going to be great….light light and more light! Enjoy…
PS. Ben sure looks perky now!

  3. You have made much progress. Wishing you energy and joy as you get the final move accomplished

  4. I agree with Deb – loving the light in the new space, which I know was one of the main reasons for moving. It's looking good already and glad to hear Ben is doing better!! Can't wait to see more!!

  5. Your old apartment was beautiful but I love the walls and light in your new place. Glad Ben is feeling better and he looks like he’s smiling in that picture…what a cutie. I’m painting today in my dining room since I added those pedestals and now I’m living with the domino effect so I can’t wait to see what you do to your place. Enjoy your Sunday!

  6. Thanks so much you two!

Brooke, I can't WAIT to start playing around. Already we have found some creative solutions to space problems. Afterwards it will be the good part!

And Sue, it is so good to hear from you and you are so right. It took over two solid weeks to clean when we came and it looks as though it is only going to take two days on the way out!!

Bisous to you both from one tired girl.

  7. As one of your "design blog friends", I want to let you know that I'm excited to see how you experiment with your new place and create a home for your family! No judgements here!
Hopefully you can enjoy the process…

  8. I'm glad that Ben is settling – I'm sure you and Remi will be settled soon as well. As much of a pain as moving is, just think how you'll enjoy the winter light streaming through the windows in February.

Cleaning up the old place is never fun, however, please remember the state you found it in. It can NOT be as tough to clean now, on your way out.

Sending best wishes for your new home!

  9. Thanks for your kind support, you two. I so miss your blog and can't wait to have real internet access again. Perhaps you have already found your Mad Boy and I missed it?!?

And yes, I made sure that I knew where three things were: the sheets, the coffee machine and the wine opener… 😉

  10. Hello Heather:
Most definitely, the light is shining at the end of the tunnel! You seem to have sorted out such a lot already and clearly have somewhere to flop at the end of a tiring day. As long as you can find the bottle opener, all will be well we are sure.

    Cheers!
