Allow me this

I know
you’ll say
with a pat of
a reassuring hand
“It will come again,
It will.
There will be another.”
And while
you mean well
and I even believe you
this morning
my skin
is longing
to be touched
and lightly,
my lips
to be brushed
with a kiss, sweet
and my eyes
to be held
in a gaze beyond
fondness, stirring
shared.
Allow me this.
For I am open
but missing,
not “him”
more than
another
for
a deep breath
of love’s burning
smoke.

  1. We allow you this and so much more. What a beautiful voice you have Heather. I thought it would sound well, more American somehow, and more high-pitched.

  2. I'll second the opinion on your beautiful voice and accent. Having lived abroad for 16 years I'm often told the same thing. I read somewhere once that people who are empathetic pick up accents and nuances of language more easily than those who aren't, so it speaks to your love for others that you don't sound quite like an American anymore.

  3. Maria? I almost didn't publish this but I thought, "I can't be the only one. I can at least try to put something out there."
Sending Love and Strength to you.

  4. I did, Jackie. Thank you. Et ça me touche beaucoup que tu as le partager avec ton marie.

  5. My beautiful friend. Today is a new day. We just have to go through each of these landmarks and then…
    Sending you so much Strength.
