Hello friends! We are still in the upper Luberon but I miss you all and so thought I would check in to see exactly how 2014 is going…? Ours is off to a wonderful start–admittedly with champagne (ok, cremant but still) and foie gras being consumed on a daily basis! We also have been returning to some of the region’s more famous villages, such as Gordes and Venasque.
But what is it like to live here? I leave you with these details from the gorgeous home of Eric and Sabine, owners of our first cabanon rental outside of Simiane, amidst the lavender fields. Enjoy!
starting tomorrow..happy to dismiss a part of my life I have never enjoyed. Sounds not good I know, but
shit happen . Not thrilled or expecting too much but knowing I did the right decision..I'm pretty sure.
Hope we both will find a lovely new home where we can live in peace. Such a simple desire but so hard
to accomplish.
there are still grapes hanging on the vines??? hasn't it turned cold yet?
Just beautiful, Heather! Glad your year is starting off with bubbles and foie gras and lots of Luberon magic. Thanks for taking us along. Thanks also for your sweet email – if I hadn't cut myself off from the alcohol for a bit, I would raise a glass to a wonderful 2014 for us both, as it is, coffee will have to suffice. Cheers! XOXO
Happy New Year ahead to you! You've certainly had a beautiful start to 2014. . .here's hoping the beauty (champagne and foie gras, too!) stay with you all year long! xo
These images are gorgeous. Oh, you make me miss France!
Wishing you and your household a happy, healthy 2014!
I really think that if I ever moved to Provence, I would not be homesick xx
Such great photos….always a pleasure to open your new posts! Thank you!
Deborah! Your question made me smile and made me think that you start to know us well. 🙂 I dont think that we can be so far from Arles just yet for Remi's work but we are sorely tempted as it is a region that we love dearly.
Mumbai, I am so thrilled for you!!! This is wonderful news. I remember that you were on the fence, trying to decide what is next. So it looks as though we will both be moving in 2014! Wonderful…
Bonne Annee, Heather, Remi, Ben and Kipling! I am signing off for the evening with long looks at your beautiful photographs. With every best wish, Leslie, with Scott, Henry and Bob
Boundless beauty…and champagne and foie gras too…the perfect beginnings to the new year.
Thank you for your lovely comment on my new year post…something to think about indeed 🙂 xx
Exquisite details, and it is always the details I remember of a place, even when the memory of the whole has faded. Thank you for this intimate look at another world.
Happy New Year Heather! To you, Remi, Ben and Kips all the best for the New Year!
Haven't you been at this cabanon before? Isn't it the one where they did not accept two dogs because they had cats and chickens? If thats the one I was thinking of going there myself. It is warm enough in winter?
Cordialement,
Silke
Looks so lovely and a place of quiet and peace.
This was the right jump into 2014 Heather. Champagne, foie gras…on a daily basis in the charming village Simiane, where I have been for a couple of days in 2011. Unfortunately I didn't know Eric and Sabine and their lovely house.
Can it get better? Yes of course and this are my fondest wishes for you and your husband in that year. I will start
the new year with a move back to Europe and I can't tell you how happy and hopeful I feel. Life is always a surprise, isn't it?

Heather, it sounds like you are both enjoying some down time in relaxing surroundings, with some fizz to wash it all down with! Are you considering this a possible area for your move?
Wishing you a great year ahead, with new and wonderful opportunities!
Cheers,
Deborah from Melbourne.
Beautiful photos of a gorgeous place. Happy New Year, Heather et al!
What a gorgeous, amazing world we live in. I'm looking at these warm colors where you are, while working at my desk, which feels as though it is in the middle of a snow globe. Everything outside my window is coated, with more of the fluffy white stuff coming down!
gorgeous, all of it x
"champagne (ok, cremant but still) and foie gras being consumed on a daily basis!"
Lovely simple life.
How could I ask for more.
I love the Luberon region, the colour of the stonework of the houses exudes the warmth of the sun.& the beautiful clear blue skies of summer. Love your photos. Can't wait to go back and visit. Happy New Year
