Details from a traditional home in the Luberon

Hello friends! We are still in the upper Luberon but I miss you all and so thought I would check in to see exactly how 2014 is going…? Ours is off to a wonderful start–admittedly with champagne (ok, cremant but still) and foie gras being consumed on a daily basis! We also have been returning to some of the region’s more famous villages, such as Gordes and Venasque.

But what is it like to live here? I leave you with these details from the gorgeous home of Eric and Sabine, owners of our first cabanon rental outside of Simiane, amidst the lavender fields. Enjoy!

  1. Happy New Year Heather! To you, Remi, Ben and Kips all the best for the New Year!
Haven't you been at this cabanon before? Isn't it the one where they did not accept two dogs because they had cats and chickens? If thats the one I was thinking of going there myself. It is warm enough in winter?
    Cordialement,
    Silke

  2. This was the right jump into 2014 Heather. Champagne, foie gras…on a daily basis in the charming village Simiane, where I have been for a couple of days in 2011. Unfortunately I didn't know Eric and Sabine and their lovely house.
Can it get better? Yes of course and this are my fondest wishes for you and your husband in that year. I will start
the new year with a move back to Europe and I can't tell you how happy and hopeful I feel. Life is always a surprise, isn't it?

  4. Heather, it sounds like you are both enjoying some down time in relaxing surroundings, with some fizz to wash it all down with! Are you considering this a possible area for your move?
Wishing you a great year ahead, with new and wonderful opportunities!
    Cheers,
    Deborah from Melbourne.

  5. What a gorgeous, amazing world we live in. I'm looking at these warm colors where you are, while working at my desk, which feels as though it is in the middle of a snow globe. Everything outside my window is coated, with more of the fluffy white stuff coming down!

  6. "champagne (ok, cremant but still) and foie gras being consumed on a daily basis!"
    Lovely simple life.
How could I ask for more.

  7. I love the Luberon region, the colour of the stonework of the houses exudes the warmth of the sun.& the beautiful clear blue skies of summer. Love your photos. Can't wait to go back and visit. Happy New Year
    Barbara
